We will call this our first unlazy Monday in a while. We hit the road and headed to Carlsbad for two days. Carlsbad is a coast town just about 35 minutes away. We got a hotel and hit the town.

We stopped off at Claim Jumper, one of our favorite places to eat. Then we went to the hotel. After eating, shopping and swimming we went back for the night to veg out.

The next morning we woke up. Got some breakfast and headed for the fields. We picked a big bucket of strawberries and ate twice as many in the journey. Miles was in heaven, we all were. If strawberry fields are in heaven than the Morgan family is set for eternity.

It was SO nice to get away and enjoy each others company. Sometimes I forget how blessed we are to have each other. What a great little family unit we have.

Take me out to the ball game. Take me out to the crowd... Another Padres game! This time we went with family! David and Stephanie came to visit us. It was wonderful. We had such a great time with them!

This game unfortunately did not go as well as the last one. Besides the fact that Miles was being a bit of a terror, we were three rows from the top and I had to apologize over and over again to the guy sitting in front of us because Miles kept throwing Cheerios. Oh sweet Miles.

The Padres game was just one of the fun things we did with them. :)

All in all we had a great time with David and Steph!

Our first Padres game of the year!!! We went with our small connect group. We had a blast. Miles loved every minute of it and sat through until the 9th inning. He wore his tiger gear. True Tigers fans at heart. Always have been, always will be.

Little does he know he will be playing baseball in the near future. :)

We got home from a fun night, played a little and then off to bed for all of us.

Hello Disney Land! Erika watched Miles for the day and gave us passes to Disney Land! It was my first time ever. Very exciting. We had a great time enjoying each others company. It was so nice to be just the two of us. Please enjoy the hideous photos of me on the rides. :)

Today we ventured out to Seaport Village. The weather was a bit bad but we braved the gloom and decided to go and about anyway.

We walked around by the water, got some desert and played in the grass.

We then went to Bennigans for dinner. We all enjoyed our meals very much and had a great time being together.

We ended the night with a bath (for Miles) and a good movie for us.

On today's radar new food and the park. First stop was the park, our beloved Trolley Barn.

We then went to The Crazy Burger for lunch. It is just down the street from our house and made it on the food network for best burger something or other and so we had to try it out for ourselves.

It was a small joint and it was outstanding. We loved the food and the service was great.

After that we went home to all enjoy an afternoon nap. We woke up and met up with Shyle for dinner at a diner also just down the street called Rudfords. It is open 24 hours a day. The service was great but the food was lousy. Whatever. We tried.

Good day. Good friends and for the most part, good food.

Holy moly it's been a while. I am defiantly playing catch up. So I will be brief. Let's just say the last couple of months although some Monday's were new adventures were out of the ordinary for the most part our adventures consisted of food and parks. So, there you have it. Enjoy.

Today we walked to Trolley Barn Park, our neighborhood park that we love to go to. It was late in the day... it was a totally lazy Monday.

Miles loves the park anytime of day. It was beautiful out. Just a light breeze and cool enough for a light jacket or sweater. It felt wonderful to be outside. Just the three of us.

Man oh man, I cannot say enough about this past Monday! It was incredible. We had such a great day. My good friend Mary Rath gets a big shout out for making our day amazing. Not many pictures were taken but we had such good times. After we woke up and got ready for the day, we dropped off Miles at Mary's house. She is so amazing to take him for the day with her own two boys! What a great friend! Anyway, we dropped him off and pealed out of the driveway... on our own for the first time in a while. We headed out to Hillcrest to enjoy lunch at a local Thai Restaurant. We sat and talked and enjoyed our meal leisurely. It was pure bliss, heaven on earth, eating like it was meant to be. I don't remember a meal that lasted more than 15 minutes since Miles was born, quite frankly, I don't remember much of anything anymore.

After lunch we headed for the movies, another distant memory. Movies at the theatre? What's a theatre? Just kidding, it's not that serious, but close. It started to poor down rain while we were in line so Mike waited while I took refuge in doors. I aint gettin this hair wet. We saw a movie, not a good one, but a movie non the less and then walked around the mall a bit.

After that we picked up Miles. We were gone a total of 4 and a half hours. Bless Mary's heart. The beautiful thing was that when we got home Miles went down for a nap and slept for 3 hours! It was wonderful! Mike and I just vegged and hung out. Miles woke up and was so sweet for the rest of the night. We all just hung out together. Mike and I, and for that matter, Miles all felt well rested and very relaxed. We ended our night listening to music and Mike and Miles wrestled. (There new thing they do together. Miles thinks its hilarious when Mike gives him the sleeper hold. :))

It was one of the best Monday's thus far. Mike and I are now trying to come up with a plan for someone to take Miles every Monday. :) Oh but we love him...

We can not say enough about how thankful we are to live so close to Josh, Kari and Stella. It has been the hugest blessing. Every month we try to make it up to see them in Pasadena or they try to make a trip down to see us. Only 2 and a half hours between us, depending on the traffic, gets us to see family more than we ever have before. We LOVE it! It is so fun to live life together in this way. So this month was our turn and we headed up to Pasadena. With traffic being heavier than normal it took us a good 3 and a half hours to get there.
Gotta love traffic to LA.

The great thing about being with them is that we can totally be ourselves and just hang out. No agenda, no gotta be here or there at this time, just rest and relaxation. We arrived on Sunday early evening. We hung out, Josh and Kar went out and had a quick dinner date and came back in time to put Stella to bed. By 8:30 the kiddos are in bed and the rest of the night we party! What?! No... but we do sit around the built in booth in the kitchen snacking and drinking, talking and laughing. Oh, so much laughing. We SO enjoy are time around the table. We hang out until we are all to tired that we yearn for our beds. We are all in bed by 11:00. Feels good.

After a great breakfast prepared by Kari of egg casserole and hard boiled eggs we take the kids to the always loved park just down the street. We all play until we have had enough fun and head back to their place.

After we head back to their place we decide that this would be a good time to leave so that Miles could sleep on the way home. We head home, traffic being better, thus the trip home taking the only accustomed two and a half hours. We stop at Dairy Queen and Krispy Kreme to enjoy a pre dinner snack and then we are home.

Later in the evening we decided to go for a late dinner to the great Pat and Oscars. We love that place. They give you enough food for days.
It was a great end to a beautiful "Sunday - Monday."

A glorious day for the beach. Cannot believe we are at the beach in our swimming suits in March! Oh San Diego, how we have learned to love you. All that to say, it would be Miles' first time at the beach ever. So after lathering on the sunscreen and putting on his swimming trunks and shirt we headed out to Ocean Beach. Good ole Ocean Beach.

He loved the sand, apparently a lot because he was pooping sand for days. Whoops.

It was so good to be out in the sun, reviving our vitamin D levels. I love the sun.

We then met up with our good friends Nate and Shyle. We walked around the main strip in OB and talked and walked and so forth and so on.

We ended up getting ice cream to quench our need for sweet.

After parting ways from OB and Nate and Shyle we went home to all enjoy a much needed nap. We then proceeded to a near by restaurant located a block from our place called "Johnny's R", how ironic. (different spelling)

The food and service were great. Miles always draws attention to himself with being so freakin cute. He is loved by all.

After a long and eventful day we ended it by enjoying a few episodes of "Freaks and Geeks" and called it a night. Oh sun, we are so thankful for your rays.

Monday - March 15th, 2010

We started our day off hopeful. Ready for whatever quest the day might bring. It was a beautiful 68 degrees out and it was only 10:00 in the morning. The day looked very promising. As we looked at our list of adventures ready to cross another one off the page we decided on Julian, a town about an hour and some away best known for there famous pies. This would be a good day trip and the weather could not be more perfect! After a bit of goofing around we got ourselves ready for the day.

We decided that this is what Miles will look like once he gets his hair in. Too funny.

Our first stop was at In-N-Out. We just went through the drive through so we could continue on our way.

We made our way up the mountains to Julian and soon realized that are once hopeful day of sunshine and pies was looking more like gloom and lost hope. The clouds soon took over the sky and our hearts. What the? Anyway...

By the time we got to Julian it was pouring down rain. Great. We figured we had come this far we had to enjoy it. So we ventured out into the storm.

We stopped by my favorite candy store to pick up a few sweet treats for the road.

Then off to enjoy a root beer, apple cider and a hot fudge brownie sundae. Miles was good only if we held him, which was fun. Good thing he screamed a lot, it always makes the time so pleasant. After feeling totally defeated and bummed we decided to head back to the car to figure out what was next.

After accessing the options we decided to head home. What a fun day. We felt totally depressed. The weather stunk, Miles was a grouch and we were tired. What started out as 68 degree weather was now a dreary 40 degrees.

On the way home, I drove because Mike was to depressed to drive. As Miles slept in the back and Mike went in and out of sleep I thought about the days of past, when we could do whatever the freak we wanted to for as long as we wanted to and whenever we wanted to. I continued the drive home enjoying my bubble gum cigarette and also was reminded of how blessed I am. As I looked over at Mike sleeping and heard Miles snoring in the back I realized that I wouldn't want it any other way. Life is good no matter what.

So... not gonna lie and make up some crazy adventure that we took. We didn't. Not one picture, not one adventure, we did nothing. Sometimes you just need to do nothing.

Monday - March 1st, 2010

Wow. I know, I know. The goal is to have these done before the next Monday, I'm slacking. All that to say this Monday was another bit of an odd Monday, not a whole lot going on. Mike went to a conference for most of the afternoon which left Miles and I to fend for ourselves. So, after we dropped Mike off we headed out to run some errands, went to Target and then to a baby boutique called "Baby Go Round". Although Miles is only 8 1/2 months old, he is now wearing 12-18 month clothing. Therefore we are running out of supply. Unfortunately, the store was full of girls clothes and one wall had boys clothes. Such is life. Then he was ready for a nap. Again, such is life. Whether I say that Miles does not run my life, that I run his... some times it feels the opposite. Not a bad thing, just a switch in thinking.

After his nap and mine, that's right, we enjoyed our time together.

We played and read together. His favorite book being "Moo, baa, la la la", thanks Auntie Julie. He thinks it's hilarious and laughs every time the pigs come up.

We then enjoyed an afternoon snack together. It was so good to be with him.
He is just so darn sweet.

Woo Hoo! Mike got home around 5:30 and we decided to venture out to the great Fashion Valley mall. Not a huge adventure, but all the more enjoyable. Sometimes we love to just get out and walk at the mall. We enjoyed the oh so pleasant Panda Express and a cinnamon sugar pretzel from Wetzel's Pretzels.

We headed back to the car when Miles had had enough. Miles went to bed shortly after we got home and Mike and I watched the 6th episode of "Freaks and Geeks" and went to bed. To be honest, each day is an adventure being married to Mike and having Miles whether we go some where exciting or just to the mall. Life is good.

Don't hate. We had a lazy Monday, and besides helping a dear friend move (above photo) there were no adventures to be taken. I stayed in my pj's until noon and Miles was only in "normal clothes" from the hours of 1:00 to 5:00, otherwise he was sportin his pajamas as well. Here are a few pictures of our lazy day... and by few I mean three, that's it.

While most of the world is getting back to their "Mundane Monday" work week, the three of us are off to live another adventure. Jealous? You should be. But don't worry, you can live vicariously through us today on your "Mundane Monday." Today we head off to the great (6) Balboa Park. Josh (brother) and Stella (niece) would be joining us today! They drove down from Pasadena to be with us for our adventure. Once again, we were glad to have the company. Balboa Park took all of 5 minutes to get to. It is here in San Diego and we live only 2.1 miles from it. Balboa Park is the nations largest urban cultural park. Home to 15 major museums, renowned performing arts venues and beautiful gardens as well as the San Diego Zoo, which we will visit at another time. It is spectacular. It was another beautiful day in San Diego and therefore a perfect day for a stroll in the park.

At the end of the day, a little stop at the kids park. Miles loves his cousin Stella and followed her wherever she went. They are such good friends, even though they hit each other. :) It was Miles' first time on a swing and he was in love. Flying through the sky he could not control his excitement and belly laughed the whole time. What a kid.

I said is once and I'll say it again. What a kid.

Miles Montage

A stroll down (4) Route 101 is a Monday well spent. We were not quite sure what to do on this Monday, but we did know that it was beautiful outside and that Miles was due for a nap within the next half hour so we decided to take advantage of the time and take a drive. Route 101 was on our list and we thought this was a better day than any to cross it off. So we headed out.

Route 101 is the second most important US highway that runs North- South. It runs through California, Oregon and Washington. It is also known as the El Camino Real, The Royal Road. Route 101 is the Westernmost North- South route in the US Highway system.

We stopped by the always coveted "Chick-Fil-A" for a quick bite to bring with us.

Miles position throughout the journey. Shortly after this he was asleep for a good two and a half hours, thus we drove.

We drove until Miles woke up and found a good place to park to take in the scene. After covering Miles with sunscreen and throwing on a hat we took to the sand.

Miles loved the sand and was very perplexed by it all.

We were gone for approximately five hours. Five hours well spent. This Monday completes our fourth adventure crossed off. Oh, but there are many more Monday's and adventures to come.

Monday - February 1st, 2010

After short delay we started out on our venture into the great city of San Diego. We met up first at Denny's with our good friends Nate and Shyle for a quick breakfast to get our stomachs satisfied. They would be joining us for our Monday endeavor. We were glad to have the company. There we enjoyed the always classic, "Grand Slam", and our favorite, "The Grand Slamwhich". Nothing like a good breakfast to start the day off right. What?

On today's radar we would be crossing off three places on our list. We begin our feat with the ever popular attraction, (1) Mount Soledad. On the way our little Miles fell asleep so Shyle selflessly stayed in the car with him while the three of us journeyed out to see the breathtaking views of the metropolis. Mount Soledad is a prominent landmark to San Diego. A top the hill overlooking the surrounding cities is a giant Latin cross which is a memorial to all veterans.

Mount Soledad also holds the last home lived in by Dr. Seuss. His widow still resides atop Mt. Soledad in an abandoned observation tower what is referred to as the Seuss House by the locals, some sources say. All this to say, there were spectacular views.

After we saw all that we could see, and Miles woke up, we headed to the (2) Glider Port. We sat and watched as the hang gliders ran to jump off the cliff to soar with the birds. It was so beautiful there. The cliffs were amazing. The cliffs overhang towers over a beach locally known as "Blacks Beach", a well known clothing optional beach. Not gonna lie, we saw a few nudies. Wow.

After we could see all that we could handle, literally, we headed off to the (3) La Jolla Sea Caves. We spent a measly $4 to hike down 145 steps to the coveted views of the Sea Caves. With Miles in the bjorn we started down the steps. The leaky, wet walls and damp close quarters made for an interesting and a little claustrophobic adventure. The cave has been accessible since 1902 after two Chinese men started to dig down to the ocean. And now today we get to enjoy what some call a "must see."

We finished up the day with a stroll by the beach. It was a great day full of adventure and newness. Oh Monday, how we love you.

My 26th birthday was on Sunday so we decided to head up to Pasadena to visit with Josh and Kari and Stella. Although, I wouldn't say it wasn't an adventure, I would say that we had a wonderful time spending my birthday with family. It has been a while since we have been with family for a birthday and it felt right. Here are some pictures to commemorate our time.

First Things First

We have recently moved back to San Diego California. Life has changed a lot since we lived here last. Besides the fact that we have added two years to our lives, we now have a kid, Miles. In stating all of this we have hit a wall in creativity and adventure. Thus we have decided to change our ways and get back to living our life with adventure at every corner... at least on Monday's that is. Every Monday we will venture out into the unknown world of San Diego and beyond to explore new discoveries. In our quest for adventure we will thus regain our zeal for passion and adventure. And we will blog about it, more for accountability than anything. Enjoy.
